i'm caught up here in the office, and am using my lunch break [now] to catch up lj with this week's events.

i realize how dependent i am on this thing--this lj thing. i suppose a journal of any sort has that kind of effect on any user, but i find myself so clear and orderly when my thoughts have been neatly filled into an entry. conversely, when i don't have the ability or time to update, my brain feels crowded, scattered, and disorganized.

so here we go: now, before it's too late, my extended-weekend-in-clip:

*saturday. ran a few errands, including shoe-shopping [we got the most darling shoes!], last-minute costume shopping, and a few other stops. it started pouring, as florida is famous for, and we made it home safely through thunder and lightning. once home, we cleaned and finished with the party decorations. went to work. shortly after we arrived, [livejournal.com profile] la_vanessa showed up. i had a flashback to the last time she had graced southern with her presence--back in the fall of 2001, before her move to boston. uncanny. so, we caught up and chatted, though it was challenging with the owner on the "prowl" [read: making sure the bar was in tip-top shape]. [livejournal.com profile] whistlndutchboy arrived a little while later, which is always a pleasure. after the lesbo-a-go-go show, randy left. vanessa stayed and hung out until close. we had a nice talk--we always have so much to say. and, it occurred to me then how effortless our conversations are...either because we know each other so well, or we are so much alike. perhaps both.

*sunday. woke up around noon. sasha ran to the grocery while v and i put the finishing touches on the house. i constructed a giant-sized pac-man for the front porch [thanks again, amy], and hung him along with colorful ghosties on the windows. everything else was just a matter of getting things situated--lights, food, music, etc. sash came home and practiced her fine culinary skills on a rubik's cube cake and vegan cupcakes. everything turned out beautifully. around 5:30 or so, everything was done, so sasha, v, and i started getting ready for the 80's party. and...who knew big hair would be so much fun!? we had a blast. at some point i was honestly looking in the mirror, slightly adjusting my 'do, and thinking how *good* a big "wave" in the front really looked on me. how insane. we finished, took some campy pictures, and before we knew it, everyone started arriving. it was so interesting to see the many "interpretations" of the 80's--so many different types of costumes and styles. new wavers, new romantics, goths, working girls, death-rockers, punks, yuppies. it was awesome. randy had the best acid washed ensemble. and everyone else looked fabulous. v and i finished 3 bottles of wine [even though i think i finished the last bottle entirely flyin' solo]. good stuff. there were lots of good conversations--lots of aptly nostalgic memories of toys and candy and music of the 80's. towards the end of the night, i was very relaxed. james left early [no fault of his own], which bothered me greatly, but what can you do. randy and i had a bit of a heart-to-heart. we called it quits around 5am, but ended up talking until 7:30am [my usual work-day time of rising]. the sun was up, the sky was blue, it's beautiful. . .

*monday. woke up around noon to make my promised specialty of french toast. randy and vanessa helped me clean up the mess [and boy, was there a mess!], and then we all went for a bike ride around winter park. came home and sasha was awake and watching mallrats, so we all cooled off and joined her. afterwards, we got ready, took a few silly pictures, and then went to ::drum roll:: chili's for dinner. sasha left for work, and v, randy, and i watched the e! documentary wild on trinidad. randy & v took off late that evening. i was sad to see them both go: i had grown so comfortable having them both around that, once they left, i felt so empty. i made sasha dinner and brought it to her at work, then came home and slept like a baby.

that was my crazy weekend. tuesday felt entirely off kilter after such a weekend--i felt foreign to be working. didn't help knowing that wednesday i also had off. [birthday report to come.]
