your sweat so sour

lest you think all i do is blindly praise the city in which i live, here are two examples of portland disappointments from the weekend:

-alberta street fair. just because the streets were closed off doesn't mean they needed to be. basically, a bunch of booths, many of the same vendors as last thursdays, less street musicians, wayyyy more kids/families/strollers, the sun, stages erected at intersections for bands (seemed very commercial). lame. even the parade was half-hearted and mediocre. thank goodness i have at least 2 more last thursdays to enjoy and cleanse my palate.

-prince vs. michael party. i'll give some credit to the fact i left at 11:30 (when most nights are just "getting started"), and that it was a sunday night, but the crowd was homely white office folk who only danced (badly) to MJ songs (as in, sat down when prince played), and the venue was empty and boring. we left because it wasn't getting any better and our sober tolerance i suppose was rather low. i'm grateful we didn't opt to draw on the facial hair--i think that would've made matters worse.

in other news, i'm wearing fake glasses today.
