i can't do polls anymore, because i let my paid account expire. [this is okay by me.] so i'm posting a "poll" to be answered in the comments, because i'm curious.

what fad, specifically accessory, do you remember wearing in the 90's? [the idea of this is to avoid the quintessential 80's garb--we all KNOW that stuff was ugly, and we all had it--but get into the early-to-mid 90's era of ugliness.]

not exactly these, but this is the best i could find. but yeah: CRYSTAL BALL NECKLACES. i had a few of them--the one i remember best was on a ball-chain, came a few inches above my belly button, and was clear crystal [probably glass]. i remember it had a flat metal piece that held the ball that constantly fell off--my mom would superglue it back--until finally i lost it.

i did grow up in louisiana, and that often explains or justifies my weird memories of what was "in style." but my teammate remembers these necklaces, too, which proves that i am not crazy.

so: post a comment with something you remember wearing/owning from the 90's.

yep, me too. Had a spiral in 10th grade. I'm praying to every deity none of my students tries to find copies of the 1992 yearbook.

Or the 91 yearbook. I had big bangs.

i *still* have crystal necklaces--the charms, anyway--usually wrapped in silver enclosure of some kind? yeah, LOVE them, just can't seem to remember to wear them...

i remember the slap bracelet, but i think i was in elementary school [80's]? actually maybe it was my sister who had them...?

I was never in style really. I created my own stuff to wear usually. I wore kitschy necklaces..I made one with lite brite and one with a wild card..as you can see. :)

In 6th grade (1990-91?) I had a necklace that was long and blew bubbles. Actually I still have it in my caboodle.

early 90s: black leather jacket, HUGE hoop earrings, purple docs. those were the only accessories i had, really, i wasnt a huge jewelry person until late 90s... and then it was all goth claptrap.

Dude! I owned one of those in 2000! It was a lot simpler than those, though...just a purple-bluish ball with the silver swirly thing on a chain.

Actually, I think those are kinda pretty! I'd never seen them before this post and had no idea this was a fad in the early '90s. I'll post when I think of what I wore back then.

well, i thought they were pretty--hell, i still DO! this whole thing was prompted by a visit to target, where they are selling something awfully similar [only prettier]. sasha said it was "hideous," which got me remembering the whole ball-chain-necklace thing in the first place :)

During most of the 90's I was the village freak so fortunately I didn't follow many trends. I did have tapered pants though. And I followed a lot of trends in the 80's -- mall hair, bad perms, ACID WASHED JEANS, oh gods, I had acid-washed everything. lol
